Cambridge Maths Tuition: Online Lesson Policy

Welcome to Cambridge Maths Tuition!

We’re excited to have you on board for your online learning journey. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone, we’ve put together this policy. It outlines how we conduct online lessons, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you. Let's make the most out of every session!

1. Approved Software for Online Lessons

To keep things simple and secure, we use the following platforms for our online lessons:

  • Microsoft Teams

  • Zoom

  • Google Meet

  • TutorCruncher Video

Please ensure you have access to at least one of these platforms and that your software is up to date. If you need any help setting up, just let us know!

2. Scheduling Your Lessons

  • Booking Lessons: You can book your lessons through our online portal or directly with your tutor. We’ll always confirm the time with you in advance.

  • Being on Time: Please aim to log in about 5 minutes before your lesson starts. This gives you a moment to settle in and ensures we can start right on time.

  • Cancelling or Rescheduling: Life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee.

3. Getting Set Up for Lessons

  • Internet Connection: A stable internet connection is key to a good lesson. We recommend at least 5 Mbps download speed.

  • Device: Use a laptop, desktop, or tablet with a working microphone and camera. While mobile phones can work in a pinch, a larger screen is better for seeing all the maths magic.

  • Quiet Space: Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you can focus. Let’s minimise background noise so we can hear each other clearly.

4. Communication with Students Under 18

We believe in keeping everyone in the loop. If you’re under 18 and your tutor contacts you directly (like via WhatsApp or email), your parent or guardian must be included in the conversation. This can be done by:

  • Creating a WhatsApp group that includes you, your parent, and your tutor.

  • Copying your parent on every email.

This ensures transparency and keeps communication clear and safe for everyone.

5. During the Lesson

  • Be Prepared: Have your materials (textbooks, notebooks, calculator, etc.) ready before the lesson begins.

  • Respectful and Professional: We’re here to learn and have fun while doing so! Let’s keep our sessions friendly, focused, and respectful.

  • Recording Lessons: If you’d like to record a lesson, please ask your tutor first. Both parties must agree before any recording takes place.

6. Technical Issues

Sometimes technology doesn’t cooperate. If there’s a glitch, your tutor will try to fix it within 10 minutes. If the issue can’t be resolved quickly, we’ll reschedule the lesson for another time.

7. Feedback and Support

  • We Value Your Feedback: Your thoughts on how things are going are really important to us. Please feel free to share your feedback with your tutor or through our support channels.

  • Tutor Feedback: Your tutor will regularly update you and your parents on your progress, helping you stay on track.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. All communications, lesson content, and shared materials will be treated with confidentiality. Our approved platforms are chosen with your privacy in mind.

9. Compliance and Support

We kindly ask that everyone follows this policy to help maintain a positive and productive learning environment. If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at hannah@cambridgemathstuition.co.uk or 07989011162.

We’re committed to making your learning experience with Cambridge Maths Tuition as rewarding and enjoyable as possible. Thank you for choosing us, and we look forward to seeing you in your next lesson!
